Franken-Fan
What is a Franken-Fan
In simple terms, it is a fan that has been modified from its original parts. Similar to the way the fictional character Frankenstein was created as described in Mary Shelley's gothic story in her original novel.
Many fans that I refurbish are considered as Franken-Fans and will receive the Franken-Fan logo.
The condition of the fans that I refurbish are non working, abused and damaged, are also missing parts, and generally require new wiring, paint and sometimes complete part replacements from similar vintage fans. By putting new life into these fans, they will last even longer still and provide that popular vintage steam "punk" kind of look that has been very popular.
I have always admired the look and engineering of these vintage Mid Century Modern Fans. While growing up in the 70's, air conditioning was fairly new and many used electric fans to cool down during hot summer days.

Just the thought of the engineering and manufacturing that went into these works of art is inspiring. They were built during a time when value and function had to appeal to the masses. They were meant to last forever and were not disposable by any stretch of the imagination.

If quiet with a cool breeze is what you are looking for, put in lowest speed and begin your meditation. If you need to move some air and want want to push the air in large volume, place on highest speed.
